August Monthly Recap

Races:
08/19 Scholar's Run 5k, Maryville TN 25:12

Mileage:
72.6  Miles in 17 different sessions. 12 of the sessions were run from the Aquatic center, 2 were on the treadmill and 2 were run with Marty Velas. One run was part of the Scholar's Run 5k road race.

2006 Total Mileage:
456.4  miles for the year. This was the second highest total for the month of August, toughly 10 miles shy of the highest total recorded in August of 1999! I have already surpassed the total number of miles that I ran in all of 2005 and am around 10 miles from surpassing the total mileage in 1999. It also makes the YTD mileage right at 98.2 miles higher than the next highest Jan-Aug total from 2002.  At this point, I am projected to finish with more miles for the year than the current high in 2002 of 564 miles and have the potential of breaking 600 miles for the year. I'm not scheduling a fall marathon, but it I keep the current workout regiment along with some longer fall races, I should break 600 miles for the year.

Upcoming Races:
09/19 Farragut Fall 5k, Farragut TN  Current Course Record 25:38; Farragut Fall 5k PR Time 25:38; Current 5k PR Time 21:56; GOAL:24:30
(indicates potential Personal Record for distance)

That's some pretty nice slicing and dicing of numbers going on. It's always interesting to look both back and forward with respect to your mileage.

Getting in some speed and tempo work and you should be able to bag that 5K goal, no prob.
